Why Urashima?
Urashima Taro is the protagonist of a Japanese folk tale who saves a turtle and takes an adventure on its back to Dragon Palace, deep in the sea where he meets princess Otohime. Urashima’s story is about spiritual transformation and the magical possibilities of life that unfold when one risks leaving the comforts of their every day world.
Why Dojo?
Dojo literally means way-place, or “place of the way.” We model our classroom to reflect a traditional Dojo where learning happens in an immersive and experiential way. This approach is also common in the field of martial arts, yoga and meditation. We end every class with light exercise and breathing routines which help students focus and build confidence.
About us
We are process-oriented and take a steady approach to preparation. Cram style classes are not our thing. Our goal is to take the whole student into consideration and help them develop multi-disciplinary skills.
Urashima Dojo looks to provide a rigorous program with a fresh approach – one that strengthens core, academic principles while cultivating physical and spiritual development.
As a lifelong Judo player, I have learned that repetition, consistency and hard work are the key components to improving one’s game. Slow and steady wins the race…
